Board Candidate Filing for an Upcoming Ballot
The Charleston R-I School District encourages qualified persons interested in running for a position on the Charleston R-I School Board, to file to be a candidate in upcoming April elections.
There are typically two (2) or three (3) positions available, each with three-year terms.
Interested persons may file in person at Charleston R-I Central Office located at 311 E. Tom Brown Street (A.D. Simpson Building), Charleston, MO. The names of qualified candidates shall be placed on the ballot in order of filing.
Filing will typically begin on a date in December and will continue during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Filing will not occur on days that the school district's Central Office is closed due to inclement weather or other reasons. The district may not open even on the first and/or last day of filing if the closing conditions make it unsafe for school staff to be available.
Central Office will close for the holiday break, and filing will not occur after the office closes.
Filing will also not occur when the school district’s offices are closed for holidays and breaks.
Filing will typically end in late December, with hours from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For questions about filing or the Charleston R-I School Board, contact Summer Babb, School Board Secretary at 573-683-3776 or [email protected].
