Charleston Community Follow-Up Meeting

The purpose of this meeting is to present additional information following our public meeting on December 5, 2019.

Parents, community members, and staff members are encouraged to attend and let their voices be heard. Invited are all residents and stakeholders of Charleston R-I School District, including those from Anniston, Bertrand, Charleston, Wilson City, Wyatt, and rural Mississippi County.

The District’s municipal bond underwriter, L.J. Hart & Company of St. Louis, Missouri, will be in attendance for the meeting. They intend to fully explain the financing options available to the District for the potential facilities improvement plan under consideration for the April 7, 2020, ballot.

The presentation by L.J. Hart will cover both financing structures available for consideration along with the advantages and disadvantages of each. Additional data demonstrating the impact of these financing plans on various types of property to include residential real estate, personal property, commercial property, agricultural personal property, and agricultural property will also be distributed. Mr. Hart and his colleagues will be prepared to answer questions from the audience.

The District’s architect, incite Design Studio, Inc. (iDS), will be in attendance at the January 6, 2020, meeting. Their team will be available to discuss design options in preparation for the potential April Bond Issue.

We understand taxpayers may have concerns about the Board’s plans. We would like the opportunity to share with you information about our potential proposal.
